BETA

My DA has evolved through utilising an auto ethnographic approach. I continue to gain a deeper understanding and a wider knowledge of my media niche and all the variables like emotions, feelings, aesthetics  that play a role within it.

Auto ethnographers use their personal experiences to produce meaningful, accessible content acknowledging and accommodating subjectivity and emotionality as data for social investigation. (Ellis, et al 2010, p. 1-2)

Actioning my peers commentary within my Beta

“Peer feedback is formative in the sense that it can be utilised by the peer to improve subsequent writing.”  ( Huisman, Saab, Broek Driel, 2019)

By taking in the feedback received from my peers and implementing this into my  BETA has helped my blogs evolve. Looking at the comments depicted below, you can see that a peer mentioned including more hyperlinks within the blog as it  would be useful for my audience to be able to access my background research to further understand what I’m talking about.

The second comment depicted below suggests looking at how other content creation pages produce their content. I have taken this onboard and displayed some Instagram pages that I  interact with within my video above , and the content that they produce. Doing so I have understood the best ways to interact with my audience is through Instagram stories. Using instagram stories creates the most interaction as my audience can easily interact with features I use such as polls or questionnaires within these stories.

Content schedule

Week 11Make story highlights of all the stories I have put up
Week 12 Make a reel + 3 posts
Week 13 3 more posts + more observation on other accounts
This is my adapted content schedule for the remaining weeks of this semester. I hope to churn out as much content as possible to see my interaction grow.

    Hi Kyra,
Great job on completing your beta! When reading and watching your beta I found some really good aspects in your presentation and some areas that may need more attention in regards to the assignment criteria. One thing that needed to be addressed more throughout the beta, was your persona and how it has changed over time. I would suggest looking at Chris’s lecture in week 4 as he addresses in detail the dimensions of a persona. Although you mentioned you have not been able to make as much content as you wished, which is completely fine, I would have loved to see any examples of what you actually have created. I also liked how you addressed that you haven’t received much engagement but you are still being ethical in protecting the individuals by not including screenshots. I have also implemented this approach in my DA, as I think as a researcher it is so important to protect those who choose to engage with us! Another point for next time would be to include some more secondary research. I noticed in one part of your video that you were silent which is completely fine as I know nerves and technology can be hard to control sometimes, but in future if you ever need to cut anything out I would definitely recommend iMovie. Although there is room for improvement, I really loved some things too. I think your honesty about not sticking to your schedule showed that you are genuine and realistic, which is something I wish I had implemented in my beta. I also liked how you explained reflexivity in three categories, which is something I might keep in mind for next time when I structure my content. You vividly talked about your feedback from other peers which is great that you are open to make changes! Overall, a good effort Kyra and I look forward to seeing what you can achieve in the final weeks of the semester. Goodluck!
